  1. An Act to make degrees or diplomas of the University of Malaya or the University of Singapore equivalent, for the purposes of existing written law, to the corresponding degrees or diplomas of the former University of Malaya. [1st January 1962.] BE IT ENACTED by the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the advice and consent of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

In this Act "the former University of Malaya" means the University established and incorporated under the University of Malaya Ordinance, 1949, and the "present University of Malaya" means the University of Malaya established and incorporated under the University of Malaya Act, 1961.
